  Did You Find Many JWs As Being Not Very Intelligent?

  I found the majority fairly average with a sprinkling of lukekwarm iq's here and there. Hey my own mother stated once during an arguement about the fact that the society doesnt like you to study anything other than their material that " i dont want to think".

  I found it extremely infuriating as a teen that some halfwit was allowed to read the watchtower to the hall on a sunday because he was some elders son, yet he couldnt pronounce half the words in the text, nor did he understand anything he was reading. I used to mutter the correct pronounciation for each word as he *^&$ed it up under my breath.

  I used to delight in using words he screwed up in the reading within an answer just to piss him off, because I would say them correctly. Sometimes I would actually point out the fact that it had been mispronounced.

  It used to freak them out if I quoted from a King james version or found extra info that supported their theories but wasnt WTBT lit, when presenting something on the ministry school.

  Memorial Talk

  can anyone get hold of the memorial talk for this year ??

  i have to assume it would be a new talk since they have reopened the heavenly calling once again.. it would be refreshing .

  Who as a kid was shitting themselves they would either

  A. spill the wine or

  B. some uncontrolable urge would overtake them and they would drink the wine or have a nibble as the bread went past?

  I did or I would stress the whole night one of my younger siblings would have a slurp as it went gliding past.

  One of my brothers would always whisper in my ear when I had the wine in my hand "its really blood you know". and it would freak me out.

  my little sister called me just now.

  exciting news - stop the presses - her husband has been made an elder.

  she is 27 and he is 26... is that not a little young to be an elder?

  My cousin was made an elder in his late twenties...he wasnt married and had such a sheltered life I wondered at the time how he could provide any advice to a person as he had no life experince. In a conversation about medications for depresssion he stated that people that were suffering from depression should "just get over it!".

  you know....i realize that my father isn't the most personable person, but good god we dont talk that often, and i just called to ask him a couple questions about my grandmother because i've started to do my family tree...he was just really cold.

  and when he didn't ask why i was wanting this info i said, "the reason i'm asking is because i've started my family tree.

  My father (elder man) has seen his grandchildren once in ten years....his choice not ours. But the good jw daughter - that mind you lives in another country - gets two visits in less than 6 months when her child was born...go figure. When we asked if we could visit with the kids we were told " its not a good time...I think the CO may be here then".

  i heard one recently from a paramedic.

  he said he uses the line "take off all your clothes, lay down on the stretcher and do everything the nice paramedic tells you".

  i know of quite a few that did , some have never been found out , are they asked by the elders before the wedding if they have done it ?

  No seriously I have done it in the flat at the back of a KH. The person involved is now married to someone else and actually still goes to that hall....wonder if they ever think of what we did there? I laugh everytime I think about it.

  Sorry I should have clarified that better...the meeting was at the the KH. Yes...how could people repeat this garbage as if it really happened, but the rumour went around for months.

  Been reading everyones posts for awhile, but just had to join so I could add to this one.

  JWs being the great lovers of every urban myth going - does anyone remember the one about the smurf doll that supposedly jumped up during a meeting and said in a loud voice "Ive had enough of this" and walked out....this was going around about 20 years ago in Australia. Even at such a young age I thought to myself "how can you people believe this stuff?"

  Now I just laugh about it. No doubt no little jw kiddies will be seeing this movie.
